Qualifications and Tutoring Experience

My goal is to motivate students to achieve the best of their abilities.
✴️ My qualifications include a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from a Russell Group University, and have worked as a researcher in this field for over 15 years. I have taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University of Kent, and have been a student supervisor and STEM ambassador at the University of Bristol. I also have a post-graduate teaching certificate from the University of Kent.
I really enjoy seeing students grow and develop confidence in a subject, and this inspires me to tutor one-to-one.
✴️ My tutorials are tailored for each individual student, and goal-oriented with set learning objectives. I make learning a fun and interesting experience, and my past teaching experience allows me to help students understand complex subjects by breaking it down into bitesize pieces.
✴️ For the past 5 years, I have worked as an examiner with several A-level exam boards, including AQA and Edexcel – this gives me a unique insight into errors students make during an exam. Using this experience, I can offer students in-depth guidance on exam technique and strategies. I also prepare and grade mock exams, personalised to the students syllabus, which can help to gain valuable feedback and lead to better grades in the exam.
✴️ I teach using a variety of resources, including the whiteboard, annotated diagrams, bullet point lists for key exam questions, online videos and past paper questions. I will help students identify their weak areas, and help them organise their revision by creating resources that they can use as a quick-reference guide before exams.
✴️ I offer flexible tuition slots, which are available every afternoon and occasionally on weekends. I can also cater for intensive coaching in preparation for A-level exams.
